Product approvals as the basis for business confidence!
Approvals obtained by us are proof of the quality of our products. They are issued by independent institutions following functional and suitability tests and are a prerequisite for use in certain markets or fields of application. The accredited testing laboratory is recognised for its expertise. The correctness of technical data has the highest priority for the user and CONTA-CLIP.
IEC and EN approvals
In order to keep abreast of the latest developments in our tried-and-tested products, we have been working closely and successfully with the experts from the DEKRA Certification B.V. test centre for many years. Thanks to this good co-operation, we can fully guarantee the electrical safety of our products. The experts from a neutral test centre help us to fully meet the current requirements of our customers and the latest legal regulations.
As an example, we can cite our tried and tested terminals, which have been tested and certified by the test centre's experts for conformity with international (IEC) and European standards (EN) to the greatest possible extent since 1998. These tests are documented by existing test reports.</p

UL approvals
UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.®) is one of the world's leading organisations for testing and certification in the field of product safety. UL approval is often required for the international market in particular. For this reason, many CONTA-CLIP products have UL approval. The UL listing contains important information about the product and its use, such as:
- Connection data (ratings)
- Air and creepage distances
- Materials
- Dimensions
- Application conditions
You can find information on UL approval for the products you are looking for in our online ONLINE product catalogue.
ATEX/IECEx approvals
Since 1 July 2003, products that are placed on the market or put into operation must comply with the Explosion Protection Directive 2014/34/EU. It replaces both older directives on potentially explosive atmospheres and national regulations. It should be noted that the new directive also applies to products that were introduced in accordance with the old directives. It also applies to products that are used in dusty areas. All Ex products are subject to traceability. Traceability must be ensured by every user and reseller.</p

Insulating materials
The insulating housings of CONTA-CONNECT products are made of high-quality polyamides PA 6.6, which are characterised by the flammability classifications UL 94 V-2 or UL 94 V-0. These modern insulating materials are predominant in terminal technology and are approved by all relevant approval bodies such as CSA, UL, PTB, SEV, VDE, DEMKO, NEMKO etc. The tracking resistance in accordance with IEC 112/DIN 0303/Part 1 is CTI 600. The resistance to micro-organisms, bacteria and termites is very good. Polyamide is also insensitive to UV light and has good ageing resistance. Polyamide 6.6 absorbs moisture from the environment, on average approx. 2.8 %. This makes the plastic elastic and unbreakable, even at temperatures down to -40 °C. It has a semi-crystalline molecular structure and is heat ageing stabilised, so that very good electrical, mechanical, chemical and other properties are guaranteed even at continuous temperatures of up to +120 °C. The short-term permissible peak temperature is approx. +180 °C, the melting range is +250 °C. Polyamide 6.6 is flame-retardant and self-extinguishing in accordance with VDE and ASTM.
Metal parts
All metal parts of CONTA-CLIP products are selected according to the latest technical findings and are subject to constant quality monitoring by the CONTA-CLIP QM system during the manufacturing process.
The metal parts are galvanised according to the latest findings. The surface protection complies with the rules of technology. Steel parts are generally galvanised. An additional chromate layer and passivation is applied to this zinc layer. Copper and brass parts are usually given a tin coating. In addition to the consistently good electrical properties, the tin layer provides excellent protection against corrosive influences. Solder tags or solder pins are also coated with a tin layer. To ensure solderability over a longer period of time, there is an additional nickel layer under the tin layer. The springs of the tension spring connection technology and push-in connection technology are made of high-quality rust and acid-resistant steel and are therefore resistant to environmental influences.
