The founding years

"Clamps in modest dimensions but colourful "

What was our founder thinking when he planned to go into big business with just one terminal block model? Our project is like a risky endeavour. He realises that this is not the best approach when he visits customers who ask about his comprehensive range and accessories. To avoid embarrassing himself at the first trade fair in Dortmund, for which he has spontaneously rented a stand, he quickly produces the one clamp in question in different colours. In this way, he tries to give the impression, at least visually, that there are different models. He could understand that the big clamp manufacturers smile at him, however humiliating it may be. One of the partners at least wished him well and advised him: "Don't take it lightly." From this moment on, the main goal for our founder is not only to increase sales, but also to build up a broader product range.

When the first copy of the catalogue is published, it is not yet possible to speak of achieving the goal; the catalogue only consists of a few sheets stapled together. On the cover, the Grohnde nuclear power plant, which was connected to the grid on 5 September 1985, can be seen in the background of the brand name. The choice of this image was recommended to us by a consultancy firm, as the view suggests that we could have installed terminals there. Today, we smile when we look at the first catalogues.
